Louisiana Culinary Trails
-
- Client's Need
Louisiana Travel Promotion Association and Compass Marketing, Inc. wanted to create a website to accompany their co-op print project "Louisiana Culinary Trails" that would provide culinary tourists a way to discover restaurants and destinations along a set of pre-defined trails throughout Louisiana. They wanted to accommodate multiple tiers of listings (basic and enhanced) and wanted to incorporate a wide variety of existing data (most of which was not organized).
- My Solution
Working with the print graphic designer and the editor in charge of the guide's content, I prepared a unique information architecture and updated web design to match the graphic designer's concepts. From inception to launch, the product development cycle was just over two months. During that time, I managed a group of five individuals including two freelancers and three staff members working on different aspects of the project including copy, design, data manipulation, and Flash development. I prepared numerous design documents related to the primary Flash applications and reworked the delivered Flash applications significantly to meet updated requirements. All PHP and MySQL code (including twenty-five custom bespoke functions and classes) was crafted by myself during this time period. Additionally, I did all the database design, database administration, and photo editing for the site.
